Support for Micro Volunteer Organisations and Groups
Overview
This collection of resources has been developed to support micro volunteer-involving organisations and community groups across Australia, with a particular focus on organisations where volunteers make up a significant proportion of the workforce or where financial and staffing resources may be limited.
Developed through the GROUND Project in consultation with volunteer organisations, the resources feature practical guidance, templates, training resources, governance tools and compliance information.
The content helps organisations design meaningful volunteer opportunities that align with organisational objectives and volunteer motivations, attract and recruit suitable volunteers, and provide structured onboarding experiences that help volunteers become confident and productive contributors. Together, these resources help enable Volunteer Managers to implement more consistent and effective volunteer management practices while improving volunteer engagement and satisfaction.
Benefits for Volunteer Managers and Volunteer Organisations
For Volunteer Managers and Coordinators, these resources help manage volunteers effectively. They reduce the need to develop materials from scratch by providing proven approaches, templates, guides and training that can be applied within volunteer programs. This helps save time, build confidence and improve consistency in volunteer management practices.
For volunteer-involving organisations, the resources offer guidance for stronger governance, improved volunteer experiences, greater compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and enhanced organisational capability. By supporting recruitment, retention, volunteer wellbeing, leadership development and organisational governance, the resource collection helps organisations build sustainable volunteer programs that can continue delivering positive outcomes for their communities.
