Giving Australia 2016: giving and volunteering research

This resource brings together the Giving Australia 2016 research series, a national body of work examining patterns, motivations and trends in giving and volunteering across Australia. The research explores individual, business and philanthropic giving, as well as the role of not for profit organisations in facilitating giving and volunteer engagement.

The collection includes multiple reports covering individual giving and volunteering, business giving and corporate volunteering, the not-for-profit perspective, philanthropy and philanthropists, and a literature review and summary report. Together, these reports provide a comprehensive evidence base on the state of giving and volunteering in Australia.

Benefits for volunteer managers

  • provides evidence and insights into volunteering and giving trends.
  • supports understanding of volunteer impact and participation.
  • informs strategic planning and decision making.
  • supports sector learning and advocacy.

How to apply this resource

This research is most useful when supporting strategic planning, policy development, grant applications, advocacy, or sector wide learning about giving, volunteering and participation in Australia.
